Report: Saints’ Michael Thomas out for rest of regular seasonDecember 20, 2020
The New Orleans Saints will be without star wide receiver Michael Thomas for the remainder of the regular season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Thomas is heading to injured reserve due to an ankle injury that has been lingering since the opening week of the season. He is expected to be close to full health by the start of the post-season.
The three-time Pro Bowler hasn’t looked like himself in 2020, mustering just 40 catches for 438 yards with zero touchdowns in seven games. At his best, the 27-year-old is arguably the NFL’s best reciever, easily eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark in each of his first four seasons.
New Orleans (10-3) faces the Kansas City Chiefs (12-1) on Sunday in a potential Super Bowl preview. The Saints are currently tied with the Green Bay Packers for the best record in the NFC. Whichever team finishes the season atop the conference earns a first-round bye in the playoffs.
