MARKET LIVE: Indices at fresh high; Sensex up 300 pts, Nifty tops 15,400

LIVE updates: The Indian benchmark indices extended their winning run and logged fresh lifetime high on Tuesday, amid largely positive global cues.

The S&P rose 300 points to 52,450 level and the Nifty50 index topped the 15,400-mark. IndusInd Bank, ONGC, and Kotak Mahindra Bank gained 2 per cent, each, and were the top gainers.

All the Nifty sectoral indices, barring Nifty Pharma index, were trading in the green, led by Nifty PSU Bank index, up 2 per cent. According to a report by

, the government has shortlisted Bank of Maharashtra, Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank and the Central

for privatisation.

The broader tracked the gains in their benchmark peers, with the S&P MidCap and SmallCap indices trading 0.6 per cent and 0.7 per cent higher, respectively.

A total of seven companies, including India, Varun Beverages, and GM Polyplast, are scheduled to announce their quarterly earnings today.
A continued increase in in-home consumption and demand for packaged food along with the festive season is likely to have driven the growth for India during the December 2020 quarter, according to analysts, who see a nearly 10-13 per cent growth in revenue on a yearly basis. READ MORE
