New Delhi: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders are making a beeline to join the BJP in West Bengal, said Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. While several high-profile leaders from the ruling party have already switched sides, many more are willing to do so, he said.

“If BJP decides to open its gates for the TMC, the Mamata government would be in minority the next day. There is a flood of leaders who want to join the BJP,” Shekhawat told ET.

Shekhawat is the BJP’s in-charge of five Lok Sabha constituencies comprising 35 assembly seats for the upcoming assembly election in West Bengal. These five constituencies are Kolkata North and South, Damdam, Bangaon and Barasat. “We have reached out to every household in all the assembly segments under the Aaar Noi Annay (No more injustice) programme and the response has been very enthusiastic,” he said.
