Basic Rice water for your hair is so easy to make. I love when basic natural remedies are used to treat hair. Some of these old wives tales are being brought back into the limelight and I love it!  So why is fermented rice water good for hair? Well it is actually good for your skin too.

Using rice water to strengthen and condition hair isn’t a new thing. It dates back to the ancient Heian period in Japan, when court ladies were known to have beautiful, long hair that draped to the floor which reminds me of the book and movie Memoirs of a Geisha

. Have you read it ?   But rice water is not just for growth, it is more commonly being used on Natural curls to help define and condition them.  Rice water has been used medicinally in many cultures for a very long time.

  • 1/2 Cup of White Rice
  • 1 Cup of Water

The key to rice water is the fermentation, this process can take 6-8 hours or overnight.  Soak your rice in water until it begins to smell sour or fermented.

I like to make my Rice Water with Coconut & Essential Oils to combat dryness and the smell.

  • 1/2 Cup of Rice
  • 2 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil
  • 3-4 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil
  • 1 Cup of Water

Apply to hair and allow to soak in for 15-30 mins before rinsing out,  use 3-4 times a month to promote hair growth and conditioning.
