HYDERABAD: A 40-year-old construction worker was bludgeoned to death by a fellow labourer at a construction site in Jagadgirigutta on Saturday night. Police said that the incident happened when the two had an argument under the influence of alcohol.
The victim Purushottam, 40, was a native of Nalgonda while the accused Ajay is a native of Bihar. According to Jagadgirigutta police, both the victim and the accused were working at a construction site in Asbestos Colony of Jagadgirigutta.
Late on Saturday night, Purushottam and Ajay consumed liquor at the construction site. Under the influence of alcohol, Purushottam picked up an argument with Ajay over a petty issue and the latter attacked him with bricks on his head, Jagadgirigutta police said. Purushottam died on the spot while Ajay fled from the scene.
On Sunday morning, other workers saw Purushottam’s body and alerted the police. The body of the victim was shifted for postmortem and a murder case was registered under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police has launched a man hunt to nab Ajay, who is absconding.
