Hyderabad: Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said on Friday that equal importance was given to development and welfare activities in the budget presented by the Finance Minister T Harish Rao in State Assembly here on Thursday.

At the same time, priority was accorded to agriculture and allied sectors in the budget, he said at a press conference here. Since 12 lakh families are dependent on dairy sector, preference was given to dairy development in the budget, he said.

Separate allocations were made in the budget for sheep distribution scheme, the Minister said, adding that the historic budget will facilitate development of traditional occupations.

Taking strong exception to the criticism by Opposition parties on the budget, Srinivas Yadav ridiculed them saying they were blind to the ongoing development in the State. He exuded confidence that the TRS would win the two MLC seats.

Some parties, which failed to provide job opportunities during their tenure in united Andhra Pradesh, were now speaking about the issue unnecessarily, Srinivas Yadav added.
