BJP leaders to address press conferences across country on February 6-7 to spread the word on Budget

NEW DELHI: Senior BJP leaders and Union ministers will address press conferences in state capitals and other important cities across the country on February 6-7 as part of the party’s efforts to spread the word that the budget for 2021-22 channelised spending on infrastructure, health and education for the common people.

The discussion on the budget has yet to take place in Parliament.

The list of leaders is still being prepared, but those whose names have been finalised are being informed about their schedule, said party members.

Union IT and law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will address a press conference in Patna. Prasad is also the sitting MP from Patna Sahib seat. Similarly, skill development minister Mahendra Nath Pandey will address a presser in Varanasi, agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar in Bhopal, tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda in Ranchi, and textile and women and child development minister Smriti Irani in Guwahati.

Union minister Piyush Goyal will address a presser in Lucknow, Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur, Thawar Chand Gehlot in Indore and Dharmendra Pradhan in Hyderabad.

Besides, Madhya Pradesh BJP president VD Sharma has asked all the Lok Sabha MPs to do a briefing in their constituencies.

The venues for other leaders are being finalised too. A number of senior leaders and Union ministers will be in West Bengal for the PM’s visit on February 7. One of these leaders will address the briefing in Kolkata.

The BJP is focusing especially on the election-bound states of West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

Its leaders will focus on the public welfare measures taken in the Budget and spell out the agenda for the state. They will also emphasise on farmer welfare measures taken by the government, said BJP members.
